Treads, Risers and Nosing
Choose treads in hickory, maple, or either type of oak, every one with a rounded nose, plus a stain picked to look natural beside the floors at each end of the climb.

Our estimator brings short tread samples in several species, so you can set one on the bottom step under your own hall light and decide on the spot.
Any step that rocks or chirps is screwed hard into the framing first. Then each new tread is trimmed to fit snug against the wall, glued, and pinned so it stays put.
Stair carpentry is handled by our NWFA certified team, licensed and fully insured. A step of ours that starts to creak inside twelve months gets fixed free.

Each fresh tread we provide and fit is $60. Count your steps and do the math for a rough budget; the free walkthrough confirms the real figure, including any extras.
If what's hiding beneath the runner is sound and not badly split, absolutely. Refinishing runs $50 per step, covering sanding, optional stain and a new protective finish.
Usually yes. On new tread jobs we can work in stages so one path stays open, and when refinishing we often alternate steps, letting the household keep climbing carefully.
That's your choice. Many people keep the existing risers and paint them white, while others prefer new oak risers carrying the same stain as the steps. We'll price both.
Slightly, so we measure carefully. The top and bottom steps are adjusted where needed so every rise stays even, which keeps the stairs safe and comfortable.
Yes. We blend stain samples on scrap wood next to the hallway floor until the color is close, then use that mix on the treads.
For new treads, labor is due on the first day the crew shows up. Refinishing existing steps is split in two payments: one at the start, the other when the last step is sealed.
Workmanship carries a one year guarantee. If a step we installed starts creaking or shifting during that time, let us know and a crew member will come set it right.
