Does the trim along the walls come off?
Usually not. We pull the small shoe molding at the bottom when needed, sand right up to the wall with an edger, then reinstall it once the finish is dry.
Will refinishing close the gaps between strips?
Small seasonal gaps often tighten up by summer. Wider ones can be filled during the sanding, though very large gaps may need a strip or two replaced.
What about my dog during the job?
Pets should stay out of the sanded rooms until the finish cures, mostly to protect their paws and the fresh surface. A gated room or a day at grandma's works well.
How strong is the smell?
Water based finishes smell mild and fade within a day. Oil based finishes are stronger and linger longer, which is one reason most families pick water based.
Can engineered hardwood be refinished?
Sometimes. Everything rides on how much real wood sits above the plywood core. A peek under a floor register or at a threshold edge tells us before we promise anything.
How is refinishing paid?
Half when the sanders arrive, the remainder after your floor is done and dry. There's no large deposit needed to book a date.
