Walkthrough Before We Start
Bring wood samples into the Annadale rooms you want to change. Compare grain and color next to older cabinetry and see how the board looks at both ends of the room.

Ask to review the contractor’s insurance and licensing information. Share any building requirements before setting the dates.
Measure the room and storage closets from one plan. Allow for cuts created by plank direction and the way each doorway is finished.
File the Annadale quote with its one-year workmanship terms. Keep the board model, finish care advice and maker’s coverage in the same file.

Set a straight line for the first row. Check the final row at a side wall and the cuts at the doorways.

Draw the herringbone repeat from your room axis. Balance the cuts where the pattern meets the side walls.

Set the chevron points on a row visible from the doorway. Mark where the pattern meets the surrounding trim.

Test a diagonal layout on the room sketch first. Include the extra cuts at corners and the edges of adjacent rooms.

Draw the checkerboard squares on a scale plan. Decide where whole or cut blocks should meet the doorways.

Draw a basket-weave repeat beside the longest wall. Check the border cuts where your pattern will meet a doorway.

Tell us how the home is approached from Annadale Road and which entrance can take long bundles. Show us the first room and any floor you intend to keep. The site visit can connect delivery access with plank length, thresholds and the order in which the rooms will be fitted.
If the threshold or its casing is in good shape, measure its height and the clearance beneath the door. Count the board and its base together when you compare options. You may be able to keep the old piece or fit a transition where the new assembly meets it.
Measure the landing from the nearest tread and again at the opening to the first room. If hardwood will stop at the stairs, agree on the nosing profile before ordering. If the landing and main floor are being fitted together, compare the heights while both assemblies are on the drawing.
Look at where the original rooms join the addition. The base may change there, even when both rooms appear level today. Mark the seam and show which floor stays. We can compare one direction through the opening with a layout that starts independently in each room.
Lay a sample at the doorway and move another piece to the part of the room that gets the least light. Check it alongside the cabinet or trim that will remain. The board color and grain look more useful in that setting than under one showroom light.
Decide after checking the exact board construction and supporting surface. The manufacturer lists accepted methods. Ask for the selected adhesive, fasteners or backing to be recorded in the quote.
Some engineered boards can be fitted over a suitable slab. Confirm the model’s instructions, moisture limits and chosen adhesive or underlay before the order. Ask the estimator to specify how the base will be prepared.
Use the measured room and the repeat for the chosen pattern. Discuss the cuts at edges and door openings and allow for the resulting material. Review that allowance before approving the order.
