Treads, Risers and Nosing
Treads come in oak and other hardwoods, with a rounded nose on the front edge. We help you settle on the species and the stain while standing at the bottom step.

Our estimator brings sample treads out with him, and you can prop red oak or white oak beside the upstairs hall floor to see which stain ties the two together.
Wobbly or creaking steps get tightened before anything new goes on. Then each tread is trimmed to hug the plaster, set in adhesive and screwed home, so the racket stops.
Stair labor from our licensed, insured, NWFA certified crew is covered a full year. If a tread loosens on our watch, we're back to fix it.

Each tread we put in costs $60. A typical straight staircase has around a dozen, and we count yours exactly during the free estimate.
Yes. If the treads under your carpet are solid wood in decent shape, sanding and refinishing them is $50 per step. If they're cracked or patched pine, new treads make more sense.
Most staircases take a day or two. We plan the work so there's a way up and down whenever possible, and we tell you which hours to stay off them.
Almost always. We brush stain onto a spare tread, set it at the top step right beside the hallway, and you approve the match before the rest of the flight gets any color.
In most cases. Squeaks come from loose treads rubbing on nails or stringers. We firm up the framing underneath and set every new tread in adhesive with screws, which quiets it down.
We do. The carpet, the foam beneath it, those spiky edge strips and the staples all ride away in our van, and you hear the removal cost during the estimate.
Labor is paid the day our installers show up, and any material at delivery. There's no deposit needed weeks before the work.
One year on our labor from a licensed, insured crew. If a tread shifts or a nose loosens because of our work, someone from the crew returns to make it right.
