Treads, Risers and Nosing
Choose maple, hickory or either kind of oak, each tread with a rounded nosing, and we'll tint the stain so the staircase looks at home between both floors.

Our estimator carries short tread samples, so you can set them right on your bottom step near the hall floor and judge them in person.
First we hunt down the creaks and drive screws into the stringers. Only then does each new tread get cut to its exact opening, set in adhesive and nailed.
The people building your stairs hold NWFA certification and work under our license and insurance. A tread of ours that creaks before next year gets repaired free.

By the step. New hardwood treads we supply and install are $60 each. Refinishing your existing treads is $50 each. Count your steps for a quick estimate.
Lift a corner of the carpet at the top step. If you see solid hardwood without deep cracks, it can likely be refinished. If it's plywood or pressed wood, new treads are needed.
We plan around that. New treads can go in a few at a time, and on refinishing jobs we can sand and seal in two rounds, so there's always a careful way up to the bedrooms.
Our focus is the treads, risers and the floors around them. We'll work around your existing railing and protect it during the job.
Both look great. Painting them white makes the treads pop, while stained risers carry the wood tone all the way up. We'll show you samples.
We use a durable finish suited for heavy traffic. Stairs get a lot of wear, so a satin sheen helps hide scuffs and keeps them less slippery than gloss.
New treads: you pay labor the morning the crew starts. Refinishing existing steps: half at the start, the balance after the top step gets its final seal.
Yes, a one year labor warranty. If any tread we installed starts to squeak or shift, call us and a crew member will stop by to fix it.
