Treads, Risers and Nosing
Red oak, white oak or another hardwood: the choice is yours, every tread has a rounded front nose, and we help you find the grain that sits best beside your floors.
Red oak, white oak or another hardwood: the choice is yours, every tread has a rounded front nose, and we help you find the grain that sits best beside your floors.
Tread samples come to your estimate, and laying one on the lowest step, inches from the hall floor, makes settling on wood and stain easy.
Squeaky or loose steps get tightened to the stringers first of all. Next, our carpenter trims every tread to meet the wall snugly, then glues and nails it for good.
Every staircase is built by our own licensed, insured, NWFA certified people and backed by one year of labor coverage. If a step ever loosens, we come back.

We install new hardwood treads for $60 per step. A typical staircase of a dozen or so steps is easy to price at the estimate after we look over the stringers and the walls.
When the steps hiding beneath your carpet turn out to be solid hardwood in decent shape, yes. Each one costs $50 to redo, with a stain chosen to blend with the nearby floor.
Most staircases are finished in one to two days. If stain and finish are involved, we keep one side usable when possible or plan the work so the family can still get upstairs at night.
We bring tread samples and stain colors to the house and test them against your existing floor. Red oak treads usually blend well with older oak, and white oak suits lighter floors.
Yes. Loose and squeaky steps get screwed and glued tight to the stringers before any new wood is set on top, which is what keeps them quiet for years.
A satin finish is less slick than gloss, and we can talk about runners or grip options. Many families with dogs find hardwood easier to keep clean than carpet.
Labor is due the morning the crew gets to your house, and material is paid on delivery. Refinishing existing treads is split down the middle, one payment as sanding begins and one when it's done.
Each staircase carries our one year labor promise, and the maker of the wood honors its own warranty too. If a tread shifts or creaks, ring us and the same crew comes back.
