Salt air and seasonal use leave many Martha's Vineyard houses with floors that have shifted, so the crew lead checks the subfloor, thresholds and stairs before laying wood.

Brazil Floors coordinates the ferry crossing for our crew and the material. Everyone who comes over is on our payroll, licensed, insured and certified by the NWFA.
Every room is measured and the order is counted out before the crossing, so boxes, trim and reducers arrive together and installers are not waiting on a missing piece.
Our labor carries a one year warranty from the day we finish, and the manufacturer warrants the boards separately, in writing.

Boards follow the long wall, which saves wood and stretches a small cottage living room.

Short blocks turn at right angles in a zigzag, each trimmed by hand. Right for a formal dining room.

Board ends are cut at 45 degrees, so rows close in a sharp V. It looks best in a large open space.

Planks laid corner to corner pull the eye across a compact kitchen and make it feel wider.

Oak squares with the grain alternating block to block bring a parquet look to an entry or sunporch.

Oak strips woven over and under, often bordered in a darker wood, suit a bigger family room.

Labor on nail down oak is $2.25/Sq Ft, with nails and underlayment inside. Wood supplied by us brings the package to $5.50/Sq Ft for unfinished boards or $6.00/Sq Ft for prefinished.

Labor is due when the crew arrives and material is due at delivery. A sanding job is split, half at the start and half at the last coat.
