Walkthrough Before We Start
Our lead installer starts by pressing the subfloor, sighting along each doorway and checking the stairs, because a salt air island house can move more than a mainland one.

Each person nailing your floor is on the Brazil Floors payroll, never hired out, and each carries a license, insurance and an NWFA certification.
Day one begins with a fresh tape measure on every room, then cartons are staged where they will be laid and trim pieces wait by the door, which keeps the nailer working without gaps.
Brazil Floors stands behind the labor for a full year, and the maker's own warranty covers the boards, so nothing in the house is left unprotected.

Rows follow the longest wall, so offcuts stay small and a narrow Main Street sitting room reads longer.

Short boards set in a zigzag give a captain's hallway the hand-built look it had a century and a half ago.

Planks cut to meet in a sharp point, a clean match for the open plans of newer houses above Katama.

Boards run corner to corner on a 45 degree line, which draws the eye outward and widens a small guest room.

Oak squares with turning grain make a parquet floor, a traditional answer for a sunporch on the Chappaquiddick side.

Strips woven over and under, framed by a dark border, give a dining room in an older village home some detail.

Labor for nail down oak is $2.25/Sq Ft, with the nails and underlayment inside that figure. Bring the wood through us and it totals $5.50/Sq Ft unfinished or $6.00/Sq Ft prefinished.
Boxes leave our Natick warehouse the day after you order, and we plan the ferry crossing so the crew and the material arrive together. You do not have to arrange any of the trip yourself.
Wood swells and shrinks near the water, so we read moisture before nailing and leave an expansion gap at every wall. A dehumidifier in a damp lower level helps keep boards flat.
Yes. Hand over a key or a lockbox code and the crew takes care of delivery, installing and cleanup, with labor paid once work begins.
We do. Old flooring comes up first at about $1.00/Sq Ft, then we check the boards and subfloor underneath and fasten or replace anything soft before oak goes down.
Vinyl plank, which is $2.00/Sq Ft for labor. Laminate labor is $1.99/Sq Ft and works well in dry bedrooms and living areas.
Labor is due when the crew arrives and material when the boxes are delivered. A sanding job splits 50% at the start and 50% at the final coat.
Our labor is warrantied for a year, with the manufacturer covering the wood itself. Everyone on the crew holds a license, insurance and an NWFA certificate.
