Samples on Your Own Wood

Each sample is boxed in blue tape on sanded oak so you can compare colors next to a window and in shade.

Fine Grit Sanding First

Sanding marks turn into dark streaks under stain, so a buffer with fine screens passes over the floor and the vacuum follows.

No Blotches or Lap Marks

Color is wiped onto a section and the extra lifted before the next, so overlaps stay invisible.

One Year Staining Warranty

Chester staining is done by Brazil Floors employees, NWFA trained and insured, with their labor warranted for twelve months.

Floor Staining Throughout Chester

We stain floors in Chester Center homes, houses near Chester Factory Village and cabins along the West Branch. Many floors yellowed over the years, so we sand to clean oak, tape off samples and seal once the color dries.

Walnut and natural oak are favorites in town. Tell us the color and a taped sample goes down on your own floor.

Natural Look, No Stain

A cottage near Main Street keeps its oak light, with only a clear finish on top.

Gray and Driftwood Tones

Light gray suits a remodeled cabin with white shaker cabinets.

Dark Walnut and Espresso

Espresso grounds an old parlor and sets off white trim.

Custom Color Mixing

A Chester couple mixed two cans and ended on a tone between honey and walnut.

Red Oak Toning

Red oak gets a toner so its pink cast calms into warm brown.

What does staining cost in Chester?

Staining runs $2.00/Sq Ft. That price covers sample colors on your floor, color applied by hand and a clear protective top coat.

Can orange oak turn brown?

Yes. Once the old orange coat is sanded away, bare oak takes brown, walnut or mahogany.

Which colors are popular?

Walnut and natural oak lead, followed by espresso, light gray and custom blends.

How does staining differ from refinishing?

Our $2.50/Sq Ft refinishing is a full sand, stain and three coats of poly. Staining is the color service with a clear protective top coat.

Can you stain the stairs?

Yes. Edgers and hand scrapers reach what the big machine cannot, and the steps get a matching color.

How long does stain need to dry?

Most dry overnight. A surface check comes before the clear coat, which keeps the color from smearing.

How soon can you schedule?

Frequently the day after we measure, with one small team handling sanding, stain and sealing.

Is the work guaranteed?

Yes. Our own trained staff do it, and labor carries a twelve month warranty.
