Samples on Your Own Wood
Test patches of three or four shades sit side by side on bare oak in your own room, letting you see how each one reads at breakfast and again after the lamps come on.

Dark color exposes the faintest sanding mark. Our last pass uses very fine abrasive, after which we go over the room twice with the vacuum before stain is poured.
A pad works the stain into a few feet of floor at a time, and the leftover is lifted before it sets, so the tone holds steady from the woodstove to the far window.
Stain crews are Brazil Floors employees with NWFA training, licenses and insurance. If the color work disappoints within a year, they're sent back to fix it.

Coloring alone costs $2.00/Sq Ft. When sanding and refinishing is needed anyway, we charge $2.50/Sq Ft for that work, with stain already built in.
Always. A few candidate shades are brushed onto bare wood off to one side, and you're free to look them over for a full day before telling us which one wins.
In most cases. Our sanders take the floor down past the old stain to clean wood, though red oak will always hold on to a little natural warmth.
Red oak carries reddish undertones that show up under pale stains. A toner, or picking a brown with more warmth, calms that cast while the grain still shows.
It won't. Deep gouges and dents get repaired before sanding begins, so the new color looks uniform across the whole room instead of pooling in damage.
Usually, by blending two stains. We tweak the mix on bare test wood until it sits naturally next to the older room, then color the new floor.
Stain has to dry before the clear layers go on, so most rooms need several days in all. We'll write the schedule out for you at the estimate.
No. Fifty percent is due when sanding begins and fifty when the room is done. Each stainer on our crew is NWFA trained, and all of them are licensed and insured.
