Dustless Floor Refinishing

Our sanders connect to a vacuum bag, so the grit never lands on your books or in the radiators. Walls and ceilings get a wipe-down afterward.

3 to 5 Day Refinishing

A typical apartment is finished in three days without stain and four with it, plus a spare day when the air is damp. Socks after 24 hours, furniture after 48.

Hardwood Floor Repair

Pet damage or an old radiator leak means boards come out and new ones go in, from $150, then get sanded flush with the rest of the room.

One Year Refinish Warranty

One year on labor, and every crew member is licensed, insured and NWFA certified. Half is due when sanding starts and the rest after the final coat.

/ STAIN COLORS AND FINISHES

Hardwood Floor Stain Colors

A sunny Harvard Square parlor shows color differently than a north-facing flat in Porter Square, so the same stain can look warmer or cooler from home to home. We test it on your wood first.

Natural Hardwood Floors

A clear coat with no color keeps the oak light in a small apartment with limited daylight.

Deep walnut that shows the grain and looks handsome beneath a dining table in a Brattle Street era home.

Hardwood floor refinished in a nearly black Jacobean stain, Brazil Floors

Jacobean Stain

Near black and glossy, a modern choice for a renovated loft near Kendall Square, though dust shows sooner.

/ OUR SERVICES

Hardwood Floor Refinishers in Cambridge

Our weeks fill with Victorians near Cambridge Common, triple-deckers in Inman Square, brick rowhouses by Harvard Square and condos in East Cambridge. Those floors have felt decades of tenants, parties and radiator heat. Room by room, the oak is taken down to bare wood, vacuumed, then stained and sealed.

Refinish Your Floors Next Day

Cambridge homeowners ask whether a rental-worn floor can look new, how long the kitchen stays closed and what happens to the cat.

What does floor refinishing cost in Cambridge?

A flat $2.50/Sq Ft, which pays for sanding, your stain and three coats of poly. A floor in decent shape may only need a screen and recoat at $1.00/Sq Ft.

Can a yellow floor be made to look newer?

Yes. Sanding takes off the amber finish, and a neutral or cool stain tones down the yellow. We put samples on your own boards so you can see the result.

How long will I be out of the kitchen?

Under 1,500 Sq Ft it is about 3 days clear or 4 with stain, plus a buffer day. Stockinged feet can cross it after a day, and the sofa returns on day two.

I have a cat. What should I do?

Keep the cat in a room we are not working in, or elsewhere, until the finish cures. Paws are fine on the floor after 24 hours.

How dusty is the sanding?

Very little. The sanders are plugged into collection bags, and we wipe walls and ceilings and vacuum before any stain goes on.

Do I need to be home during the work?

No. Leave a key with the building manager or in a lockbox. The crew needs daily access until the last coat is down.

What do stairs cost to refinish?

$50 a step with stain, and we hand sand each tread. Risers are not part of that price.

Is a deposit needed to book?

No. Half is paid when sanding begins and the rest after the final coat. Nothing is charged to hold a date.
