Treads, Risers and Nosing
Treads come in red oak, hickory, maple or white oak, rounded at the front edge and stained so the flight blends with the hallway up top and the floor below.

We bring a pile of sample treads to the estimate. Hold each species against the floor by the bottom step and decide on the spot.
Squeaks and wobbles get sorted out first. After that, our guys scribe each tread to fit against the walls, then glue and fasten it so the stairs stay quiet.
Stair labor carries a twelve month warranty from our licensed, insured and certified crew, and we'll come back if a step ever loosens.

Each new hardwood tread runs $60 per step, installed. Existing treads that are solid wood and only need sanding are refinished for $50 per step.
Installing treads usually takes a day or two depending on how many steps there are. If they're stained and finished in place, plan on a little extra drying time before regular use.
Yes. We pick the species that matches your hallway floor and test stain right on a sample tread until the color lines up.
We do. Before new treads go on, we check every step and fasten anything loose to the stringers so the staircase is quiet when we're done.
We usually work so there's a safe path to the second floor, but during finishing there may be a few hours when it's best to stay off. We'll plan around your family.
We do. The carpet, its pad, every tack strip and staple come up and leave with us, and what removal costs is right there in your quote before we start.
Installation is due once our installers arrive, and material when it's delivered. If it's a sand and refinish job, you split it: half on the first morning and half at the end.
Yes, twelve months on labor for every staircase, plus the manufacturer's warranty on the treads. Our stair crew is NWFA certified, fully licensed and insured.
