Treads, Risers and Nosing
Treads come in red oak, white oak, hickory or maple, each a full inch thick and 11 1/2 inches deep, with a bull nose front and a riser to match.

Sample treads live in the estimator's truck. Set one against the floor at the foot of the stairs and the right species usually picks itself.
Loose steps are screwed down to the stringers before any new wood arrives. Then every tread is traced to its opening, set in glue and fastened.
Each Hartland staircase is built by a licensed, insured, NWFA certified crew and backed by a one year labor warranty. If a step ever moves, we come back.

Sixty dollars, and that includes the tread, the riser, the bull nose, stain matched to your floor and the labor to set it.
Yes, the carpet comes up along with the pad, the tack strips and every staple. That removal gets its price at the free estimate.
No problem, since each tread is scribed to its own opening and uneven stringers are common in those houses. The rise and run stay as they were built.
Most Hartland flights are done in a day. Walk them lightly the next morning and normally once the finish has cured for a day or two.
Hickory is the toughest of the four we stock. Red and white oak are close behind and match most Hartland floors.
If the treads are sound, yes, at $50 per step with the stain brushed on by hand. A tread that has split or cupped is worth swapping for new at $60.
The same payroll crew that installs our floors, each one licensed, insured and NWFA certified. Nothing in Hartland is handed to a sub.
Labor when the crew arrives, treads and risers when they are delivered. Our labor warranty runs one year.
