Treads, Risers and Nosing
Species is your pick: white oak, red oak, hickory or maple. Our installer trims each tread to the exact span of your stairwell, so both ends meet the wall tight.

A crate of sample treads travels to every estimate. Rest them on your bottom step beside the hall floor and choose a stain in that exact light.
First, loose steps are screwed tight to the stringers. Each Erving tread is then fitted to its wall line, set in adhesive and nailed, so step three quits complaining.
NWFA certified and covered by our license and insurance, these stair builders guarantee their labor for a year and return if a tread ever works loose.

New hardwood runs $60 per step, installed by our own crew. Where the old treads under carpet are sturdy and still thick enough, refinishing each one costs $50 per step.
Carpet must come off first. Padding, staples and those spiky tack strips go with it, and new treads get fastened right onto the stringers and risers so nothing moves.
Setting the treads takes a short visit, then stain and finish need drying time. We schedule it so bedrooms upstairs stay reachable, and we tell you when to stay off.
Samples come along, and stain gets mixed right at your house, tried beside the upstairs hall and the downstairs floor until the color agrees with both.
Yes. Before new wood arrives, our installer drives screws through each loose step into its stringer, then treads go on with adhesive plus nails, which stops most squeaks.
When there is solid hardwood with enough thickness left, a $50 per step refinish revives it. We check this during the free estimate.
Our crew collects labor payment once they unload on day one. Material we supply is paid at delivery. A tread refinish gets paid in two equal halves.
It is, for twelve months on all labor we perform. The installers building your stairs belong to our own NWFA certified crew, working under full license and insurance.
