Treads, Risers and Nosing
Choose among red or white oak, hickory, maple and other hardwoods. Each tread receives a gently rounded nosing, with grain chosen to echo whatever floor meets the bottom step.

Our truck carries sample treads, and propping a couple at the foot of your staircase, right against the hall floor, settles species and color within minutes.
Squeaks get hunted down before anything else, with shaky steps screwed snug to stringers. Next, each fresh tread gets scribed to hug plaster, cut, glued and pinned.
Licensed, insured carpenters holding NWFA certification build each flight, with our labor warrantied twelve months. Should a step ever shift, someone comes back.

Plan on $60 per step for every new hardwood tread. Typical staircases hold twelve to fifteen steps, and you'll get an exact total during the free visit once we've examined stringers and walls.
Often, yes, when they're sturdy beneath the carpet. Reviving runs $50 per step, with each nosing hand sanded and stain chosen to suit surrounding rooms.
Most tread jobs wrap within one or two days. When staining is involved, we sequence the work so everyone still climbs to bed at night, sometimes leaving half of each step open.
Rarely. Before treads go on we screw loose steps tight to the stringers, and adhesive plus pins hold each one solidly, which stops that familiar midnight squeak.
Yes. We pick wood species and grain close to your upstairs floor and brush trial stain onto leftover offcuts until staircase and hallway look like one continuous surface.
Our focus is treads, risers, nosings and landings. Existing railings stay in place while we work around them, and we'll tell you honestly when a newel post needs a specialist.
For brand new treads, labor gets paid as our carpenters arrive. Refinishing existing steps works differently: fifty percent once sanding starts, the other fifty after the final walkthrough.
Every staircase carries a year of labor backing from us. If anything shifts, wobbles or squeaks during that stretch, a carpenter comes back and sorts it out without charging you.
