The Challenge

The new floor had to meet the old oak in two doorways without a threshold and without a color line.

Our Approach

We wove the new strips into the old floor at each doorway so the joints are staggered, not a straight seam.

The Process

Once the install was done we sanded the new and old oak together and finished both in one pass.

Materials and Finish

Two and a quarter inch red oak, woven doorways and a satin finish.

The Result

The front rooms now look like they always had hardwood, and you cannot see where the new floor starts.
