The Challenge
New hardwood has to rest inside the house before it goes down, or it can move once the heat comes on. The kitchen also had cabinets and appliances the new boards had to meet cleanly.
Our Approach
The boards were dropped off and left to acclimate for 3 days before we laid a single one. Then we installed from the longest straight wall, kept the rows tight and cut clean around the cabinets and doorways.
The Process
After the install we sanded the new floor flat, ran a vacuum system on the sander and cleaned the house before the finish. The floor got three coats, each one dry before the next, and we checked it under the kitchen lights at the end.
Materials and Finish
Unfinished boards laid on site, sanded flat and sealed in their own color with three coats of gloss.
The Result
The new floor runs through the kitchen and living areas without a single break. It looks like it was always part of the house, with a bright natural tone and a clean shine.
