The Challenge
Patching only the bad spot would have left a square of new wood that never matched. The repair had to look like it was always there.
Our Approach
We found where the damage stopped, cut the strips out at staggered lengths and wove new oak in so the joints fall at random.
The Process
After the new strips were glued and nailed, we sanded the whole kitchen together and sealed it in one finish so the color stays even.
Materials and Finish
Matching red oak strips, wood glue, finish nails and a satin finish across the full room.
The Result
You cannot point to where the leak was. The kitchen has one floor again, flat and even right up to the cabinets.
