The Challenge

Mill buildings have floors that are anything but flat, and the brick walls were never square.

Our Approach

We built up a sleeper system to bring the floor level and scribed each row along the brick to keep the gaps tight.

The Process

Maple strips went down with a nailer onto the new plywood, then the floor was sanded and sealed with a matte finish.

Materials and Finish

Solid maple strips, plywood over sleepers and a matte water based finish.

The Result

Pale maple under old brick and tall windows. The loft finally feels finished.
