The Challenge
The second floor had plank subflooring with wide gaps and a few soft spots near the old radiators.
Our Approach
We added a plywood layer over the old subfloor for strength and laid oak to match the width of the strips downstairs.
The Process
The new floor was nailed over rosin paper, then sanded and finished to match the first floor.
Materials and Finish
Two and a quarter inch red oak, new plywood layer and a satin finish.
The Result
All four bedrooms now match the rest of the house, and the floors feel solid underfoot.
