The Challenge
The upstairs hall ends in a curved wall at the top of the stairs, and the bedrooms have angled corners under the roofline.
Our Approach
We scribed each strip to the curve by hand and ran the floor the same direction as the first floor so the house reads as one.
The Process
The oak was nailed over rosin paper, then sanded and finished in a tone that matches the original floor downstairs.
Materials and Finish
Two and a quarter inch red oak, hand scribed edges and a satin finish.
The Result
The curve at the top of the stairs is now the detail everyone stops to look at.
