Hardwood Floor Staining
Stain Color
Medium brown, chosen from floor samples
Finish
Gloss
Town
Jersey City
The Challenge
The floor had old covering residue in spots, and nobody could picture how the wood would look once stained. Picking a color from a small card in a store rarely works on a real floor.
Our Approach
We removed the residue and sanded the floor to fresh wood first. Then we made several stain samples right on the floor, side by side, so the owners could see each color on their own boards and in their own light.
The Process
Once the color was chosen, we stained the floor by hand and wiped it in small sections. After drying, the finish went down in three coats with time between each, ending at the doorway.
Materials and Finish
A medium brown chosen from a row of samples made on the floor, under three gloss coats.
The Result
The color on the floor is the one the owners picked, with no surprises. The residue is gone, and the boards look rich and even throughout the room.
