Large Room Hardwood Refinishing in Elizabeth, NJ

A big open floor with tables and chairs along the walls. Large rooms like this show every lap mark in the finish, so the coating has to be done with a steady hand.

The Challenge

On a wide floor, the finish starts drying at one end before you reach the other. Stop or overlap in the wrong spot, and you end up with lines that catch the light for years afterward.

Our Approach

We sanded the floor flat first, so the finish would sit even. Then we planned the coats in long, straight runs, keeping a wet edge the whole time. One of our crew applied each coat while another kept the floor clear.

The Process

The photos show the sanded floor, then our crew applying the finish by hand. We vacuumed, wiped the boards and laid three coats, each dry before the next, with the room closed off while it cured.

Materials and Finish

Natural wood, nothing added for color, under three high gloss coats that hold up to a lot of foot traffic.

The Result

The shine runs from wall to wall without a single lap line. The room looks clean and bright, and the floor is ready for the heavy daily traffic it gets.
