The Challenge
The stairs had wear right in the middle of each tread, where everybody steps. The floor by the fireplace and the kitchen counter had the usual traffic marks. All of it had to match once it was done.
Our Approach
Every tread was sanded by hand, with extra care on the worn centers. The living room and kitchen went under the big machine for three passes, and we kept the oak's own color so it all reads as one wood.
The Process
Furniture out, counters and fireplace covered, then sanding from the far wall toward the door. Two rounds of vacuuming and a wipe came next. Floors and treads each got three coats, dried in between.
Materials and Finish
Bare oak, no color added. The risers stay white and each wood surface carries three gloss coats.
The Result
The treads look new and match the living room exactly. The fireplace room and the kitchen now share one even color, and the light from the side windows shows the grain instead of the wear.
