Town
Brooklyn
The Challenge
Everything had to go up four flights of narrow stairs, and the old house has no two walls at the same angle.
Our Approach
We carried the oak up a few days early to let it settle, then set our layout from the hallway so the crooked walls disappear at the edges.
The Process
Strips were nailed over rosin paper, sanded and finished to blend with the floors below.
Materials and Finish
Two and a quarter inch white oak, rosin paper and a satin water based finish.
The Result
The top floor finally feels like part of the house, and the bedrooms are quieter without the old carpet.
