Walkthrough Before We Start

Stone foundations that have shifted over two centuries and hand hewn joists leave Hampton Hill floors out of level, so the crew lead checks the subfloor, each threshold and the stair landing before a single board is opened.

Licensed, Insured Installation

The installers who come to Hampton are licensed, insured, NWFA certified and on the Brazil Floors payroll, so the house and the work stay covered the whole way through.

Remeasure and Material Count

Each room gets taped first, then the cartons, trim and reducers are stacked by the entry so the nailer runs without pause from the first row to the sweep up.

One Year Install Warranty

Labor is guaranteed by us for one year, and the hardwood keeps its manufacturer warranty, so the workmanship and the oak are both protected.

/ FLOOR PATTERN DESIGNS

Hardwood Floor Patterns

Straight runs, herringbone, chevron, diagonal and parquet all go down in Hampton, with borders and inlays priced at the estimate. The old houses on Hampton Hill want wide straight boards, while new builds off Route 97 often ask for chevron.

Straight Lay Hardwood

Boards run the length of the longest wall, the quickest layout with the least cutting. A farmhouse parlor on Hampton Hill looks longer this way.

Herringbone Hardwood

Short pieces meet at right angles in a zigzag, every one fitted by hand. Right for the dining room of a center chimney colonial in Hampton.

Chevron Hardwood

Rows mitered at 45 degrees close in a clean V down the room. Suits the open kitchens of newer Hampton colonials.

Diagonal Hardwood

Planks on the diagonal pull the eye corner to corner, which widens a small kitchen in a Hampton cape.

Checkerboard parquet made of square wood blocks turned in alternating directions, Brazil Floors

Checkerboard Parquet

Squares of oak laid parquet style, the grain of each block crossing its neighbor. A traditional floor for a sunroom looking out at Trail Wood.

Basket weave parquet with wood strips grouped in alternating squares, Brazil Floors

Basket Weave Parquet

Short oak slats woven over and under, framed by a darker border. At home in the old houses along Main Street on Hampton Hill.

What does hardwood floor installation run in Hampton?

Nailing down hardwood is $2.25/Sq Ft for labor, and that flat figure already carries the nails and underlayment. If the oak comes from our Milford stock as well, the installed price is $5.50/Sq Ft unfinished or $6.00/Sq Ft prefinished.

Can oak go over the old wide pine in my Hampton Hill house?

Often yes, if the pine is sound and fastened tight, with a layer of plywood between. Where it is too soft or uneven, we discuss removal at about $1.00/Sq Ft.

My raised ranch has concrete downstairs, what floor fits?

Engineered hardwood floated on foam with glued seams, because nails cannot enter a slab. That installation is $2.00/Sq Ft in labor.

Do you install vinyl plank and laminate out here too?

We do, vinyl at $2.00/Sq Ft and laminate at $1.99/Sq Ft of labor. Waterproof vinyl is the better fit for a mudroom that sees barn boots.

Hampton is a long way from Milford, does delivery still come next day?

Yes, the truck leaves 92 Munson St the day after you order and makes the drive out Route 6. The wood then rests in the house a few days before the crew nails it.

Can the farmhouse stairs be done in the same job?

Replacing a step with a new oak tread, riser, nosing and stain costs $60. Original stairs that are sound get sanded and refinished at $50 per step.

How does payment work?

Labor is paid the morning the crew arrives and the wood when it is delivered. Any sanding splits 50% at the start and 50% at the final coat.

What is the warranty?

Twelve months on our labor plus the manufacturer warranty on the oak. The crew is licensed, insured and NWFA certified, all Brazil Floors employees.
