Walkthrough Before We Start
Hilltown farmhouses settle, and sills near Poland Brook have seen two centuries of damp. The lead installer probes the subfloor, measures each doorway and sights every run before boxes arrive.

Everyone who kneels on your subfloor draws a paycheck from Brazil Floors, holds a license and insurance, and finished NWFA training. No subcontractor ever shows up in your driveway.
Morning one starts with the tape again. Rows are chalked off the longest wall, transitions are cut for each threshold, and cartons are stacked by room so no one hunts for material.
You get twelve months of labor warranty on the installation, and the oak or maple carries the warranty its mill wrote. Both are in writing on the estimate.

Boards run with the long wall of the room, the layout with the least waste, and it stretches a narrow farmhouse parlor toward the windows.

Short lengths set at right angles in a zigzag, fitted one piece at a time. A dining room in an 1800s house on Main Street wears it well.

Plank ends mitered so each pair meets in an arrow. Chevron fits the open kitchen additions tacked onto houses along Route 116.

Rows at 45 degrees carry the eye corner to corner, which opens up a small cottage room by the lake and forgives walls that lean.

Oak squares with the grain turned square by square, parquet style. A handsome floor for a study in a village house near the town common.

Short strips woven over and under, usually inside a darker border, basket weave belongs in the front hall of an old hilltown colonial.

$2.25/Sq Ft for nail down labor, nails and underlayment counted in. Should the oak come from our Natick store, the installed price is $5.50/Sq Ft unfinished or $6.00/Sq Ft prefinished.
Sometimes, if they are flat and tight. More often we screw the pine down, add a plywood layer and nail the oak to that. Where the pine is too far gone, tearing it out runs about $1.00/Sq Ft.
Yes, and up in the hills it matters more. Solid planks rest indoors a few days until our meter says the oak and the subfloor agree, which keeps gaps from opening when the woodstove runs all winter.
Yes, with engineered planks. They float on underlayment with glued joints for $2.00/Sq Ft, nothing is drilled into the slab, and a moisture barrier goes down ahead of them.
They ride up from our Natick warehouse the day after you order, on our truck. Ashfield is a long haul from Route 9, so we group the delivery and the first install day together to save you a wasted morning.
Furniture, yes, for a flat $250 out and back. A woodstove needs a plumber or a mason to disconnect and we work around it or wait until it is out of the room.
Labor is paid the morning the crew arrives and starts, and the wood is paid when the boxes are set in your house. Nothing is owed just to hold a date on the calendar.
We do, at no charge, inside the twelve month labor warranty. The plank itself has the manufacturer warranty on top, and the crew that comes back is the same licensed, insured, NWFA certified team that laid it.
