Walkthrough Before We Start
Old farmhouses here often sit on fieldstone foundations with uneven joists, so the lead installer checks level across every room, meters the subfloor and plans where each threshold will land before writing the quote.

Nobody on an Ashby job is a subcontractor. Our installers are Brazil Floors employees, NWFA certified, licensed in Massachusetts and insured, and the same people stay from the first carton to the final sweep.
Install morning starts with a recount of the cartons and a chalk line off the straightest wall. Transitions for each doorway are cut ahead of time, so the nailer keeps moving from the first row to the last.
Our labor is backed for twelve months and the mill stands behind the planks, which means both the fitting and the wood come with written coverage.

Rows follow the longest wall, the layout with the least waste. It makes a narrow farmhouse parlor near the Town Common feel longer.

Short boards meet at right angles in a zigzag, each one cut and fitted by hand. Right at home in the dining room of an old Mill Village house.

We miter the plank ends at 45 degrees, giving every row a sharp joint at the center. Suits the open kitchens in the newer homes along Route 31.

Boards set diagonally to the walls stretch a small room and disguise an old wall that leans out of square, common in houses near Willard Brook.

Oak squares with alternating grain in a grid, parquet style. A good fit under the table in a sunroom overlooking Trap Falls.

Short strips woven over and under inside a darker border. A crafted detail for a study in one of the older Route 119 homes.

Nail down labor is $2.25/Sq Ft, with cleats and underlayment in that rate. Bundling the oak with the install comes to $5.50/Sq Ft unfinished and $6.00/Sq Ft if it arrives already coated.
Yes. Tear out of old flooring is about $1.00/Sq Ft, padding and tack strips included, and the debris rides away on our truck. Furniture moving is a flat $250 if you would rather not lift it yourself.
Dry winter air opens small seams in any solid floor, which is normal. We let the oak sit indoors for a few days and meter it before nailing, and a humidifier in the stove months keeps the gaps minor.
Engineered hardwood or LVP rather than solid oak. Engineered planks float on underlayment with glued seams for $2.00/Sq Ft, so nothing is drilled into the slab.
Next day. The truck leaves 9 Cochituate St in Natick in the morning and reaches Ashby in a little over an hour, and the crew is scheduled right behind it.
Material bought through Brazil Floors is up to 30% off, and booking your free estimate online takes $250 off the project.
Labor is paid when the crew arrives to begin, and the material when the boxes are dropped at the house. No deposit is required to hold a date.
We do. Labor is warrantied for a year and the planks carry their manufacturer warranty, and the same licensed, insured, NWFA certified crew comes back out.
