Samples on Your Own Wood

Narrow your list to three or four cans, and we paint each onto bare oak beside a bright window. Wait a day before choosing, since July sun and January lamplight shift every tone.

Fine Grit Sanding First

Deep shades magnify every little swirl, so we finish sanding with 120 grit paper, then vacuum radiators, sills and floor twice before any can gets opened.

No Blotches or Lap Marks

One tech spreads color with a lambswool pad and a partner follows with lint free rags, lifting extra stain, so even a long front hall on Church Street dries without lap lines.

One Year Staining Warranty

Brazil Floors staff do all stain work themselves, with no subcontractors. They are NWFA trained, and every stained floor carries a year of workmanship coverage.

/ LOCAL STAINING CREW

Hardwood Floor Staining in Clinton

In duplexes near Depot Square, Victorians along High Street and capes close to Coachlace Pond, we sand tired oak until pale, fresh fibers appear and color it in the shade you chose. Clear layers go over it, guarding that color against school backpacks, wet galoshes and dog claws.

/ STAIN COLORS WE APPLY MOST

Hardwood Floor Staining Services

Pale natural, toasted honey, smoky gray or a deep espresso. We just want a test on your floor first, because shady rooms facing the hill mute every color.

Natural Look, No Stain

Plenty of families near Fuller Field skip stain entirely and just seal their oak clear.

Gray and Driftwood Tones

Honey and golden browns look at home with the painted trim found in older millworker houses.

Dark Walnut and Espresso

Espresso and ebony feel rich in a large room, though golden retriever fur and dust stand out quicker on them.

Custom Color Mixing

Gray suits modern kitchens, and since some grays drift blue on oak while others go brown, we test it first.

Red Oak Toning

Red oak hides a pinkish undertone, so warm and cool samples go side by side before a room gets colored.

Color Change on Old Floors

With dark colors we often mist the oak with water first, swelling its fibers so they drink stain evenly.

Sanding, Oak Installs and Stairs in Clinton

Most new colors happen during a complete sanding, but the same crew lays new oak, rebuilds Victorian staircases and patches strips ruined by a weeping radiator.

How much do stained floors cost in Clinton?

Staining by itself runs $2.00/Sq Ft. Since most oak here needs sanding before any color goes down, the combined sand and stain price of $2.50/Sq Ft is what most families pay, confirmed at your free visit.

Can we preview colors on our actual floor?

Absolutely. A few sample squares get brushed onto sanded oak in your sunniest room. Check them in daylight, look again under lamps after dinner, then pick a favorite.

Why does one stain look different in our two rooms?

Red oak carries large pores and a pinkish cast, whereas white oak looks tighter and cooler. One can reads warmer on the red species, so we always brush samples onto your own floor first.

Our floor was stained too dark. Can it go lighter?

Yes. Sanding strips old color away completely, so natural or lighter tones are possible. Really deep espresso sometimes takes an extra pass with the drum before bright wood appears.

Does gray stain suit an older Victorian?

Gray can look sharp beside white trim and updated kitchens. Because certain grays drift bluish on oak and others lean brown, two or three get tried on your floor before you decide.

Will stain add days to our refinishing job?

Usually one more day, since pigment has to dry completely before polyurethane goes on top. Sticky August humidity can stretch that slightly. The schedule gets set at your estimate.

Is staining billed all at once or in parts?

Sand and stain jobs are billed in two halves. One is due before our crew plugs in the sanders, and the other once you have walked across the colored floor and approved it. Furniture moving is $250.

Is staining work guaranteed?

Yes. Our licensed and insured stain techs cover their labor twelve months, starting when your final clear layer dries, while the stain and polyurethane makers warrant their own products.
