Treads, Risers and Nosing

Wood options are hickory, maple, red oak and white oak. Each tread is cut 1 inch thick and comes with its own bull nose and riser.

Tread Samples at Home

Samples of treads ride in the estimator's truck, and holding a few against your hall floor shows which wood works.

Quiet, Solid Steps

Wobbly steps get tightened first. Then each new tread is scribed to the wall, glued and screwed down together with its riser.

One Year Stair Warranty

The crew is licensed, insured and NWFA certified, and every flight carries a one-year labor warranty. Should anything shift, we return.

Middlefield Stair Installation Crew

We rebuild staircases in capes, ranches and split-levels around Middlefield. The crew strips carpet, secures loose steps and sets new hardwood treads, often within a single day, even on the busy flights that lead to a basement or a second floor.

Wood Stair Treads and Risers

A narrow basement stair and a wide open front flight ask for different details, so we help you choose wood, risers and trim.

Red Oak Treads

Red oak adds warmth in older houses where the railing and doors have a deeper tone.

White Oak Treads

White oak has a pale, clean grain that looks sharp in a bright stairwell.

Hickory and Maple Treads

Hickory handles kids and boots every day, while maple lightens a stairwell on the dark side.

Painted or Wood Risers

Owners decide between white painted risers and oak risers stained like the treads.

Open Stairs and Return Ends

An open stair gets return ends that wrap the side of each tread for a finished look.

Landing Treads

The top tread ends level with the upstairs floor, so no filler piece is needed at the last step.

How much is one hardwood stair in Middlefield?

A step costs $60 and includes the tread, riser, bull nose, stain match and the installation.

Can you take the carpet off my stairs?

Yes, and the pad, tack strips and staples go too. The removal price is set when we visit you for the estimate.

Is it possible to refinish the treads that are there?

If the oak is solid, hand refinishing costs $50 a step. Any tread that is cracked or worn thin gets swapped for a new one.

Can I get risers that match the treads?

They can, stained the same for a full wood look. Painted white is the common alternative.

Will new treads quiet the creaking?

Mostly. We secure the loose step first, then the new tread is glued and fastened to stay silent.

What happens at an open stair side?

A return piece wraps around the tread end that faces the room. That leaves the side finished and tidy.

How long will the stair work take?

Unfinished treads can be installed the next day and complete in two. Prefinished treads are special ordered, so add shipping time.

Is there a warranty on the stair work?

Yes, a year on labor from our licensed, insured and NWFA certified crew.
