Walkthrough Before We Start

We start with a free visit at your house. Samples of solid, engineered and prefinished wood get laid on the floor, so the color is judged where you live.

Licensed, Insured Installation

Everybody who touches your floor works for Brazil Floors and carries a license, insurance and NWFA certification. Subcontractors are never part of it.

Remeasure and Material Count

Every room is measured by tape, the subfloor is tested for soft spots, and moisture gets read. The quote then counts stairs and doorways too.

One Year Install Warranty

We stand behind our labor for a year, and the mill covers the boards. Pay labor when we start and the material when it is delivered.

/ FLOOR PATTERN DESIGNS

Hardwood Floor Patterns

Straight, herringbone, chevron, diagonal, parquet and basketweave are all possible in a Middlefield house, and borders and inlays are priced at the visit. Hallways do best with straight boards, while a dining room can handle herringbone.

Straight Lay Hardwood

Laying along the longest wall wastes less wood and gives a short hall some extra length.

Herringbone Hardwood

Each herringbone piece is angled and trimmed by hand, a pattern that gives a plain dining room real presence.

Chevron Hardwood

Chevron planks are cut at 45 degrees and meet in a sharp point, good in a kitchen that opens to the family room.

Diagonal Hardwood

On the diagonal, planks lead the eye from corner to corner and a modest room feels bigger.

Checkerboard Parquet

Squares of parquet with alternating grain give a den the character of an older house.

Basket Weave Parquet

Basketweave strips inside a dark border make a handsome entry and hide the dirt tracked in on boots.

What would new hardwood cost in my Middlefield house?

Labor on nail-down hardwood is $2.25/Sq Ft, with nails and underlayment inside that rate. Buying the wood from us too brings the total to $5.50/Sq Ft unfinished or $6.00/Sq Ft prefinished.

Can hardwood go over the floor that is already there?

Often it can, after the crew tests for movement, soft spots and moisture. Loose or weak boards are fastened or replaced first, and that step is listed in the quote.

Will you haul the old flooring away?

We will, at about $1.00/Sq Ft, and the debris goes on our truck. The figure is written into your estimate.

How long before the wood shows up?

Material comes from our Milford warehouse the following day. A crew can often start inside a week.

Which hardwood is right for a basement slab?

Go with a floating engineered plank, as nails cannot hold in concrete. Our labor on that is $2.00/Sq Ft; nailing and gluing to plywood is $2.50/Sq Ft with adhesive extra.

Do I get a break on the wood?

Up to 30% off on material bought through Brazil Floors. Booking the estimate online takes a further $250 off.

When am I expected to pay?

Labor is paid on the day the crew arrives to begin. Material is paid for when it is delivered.

Can your crew shift the furniture?

Yes, one flat $250 covers every room in the house. Everything goes back in its place when the work is done.
