Treads, Risers and Nosing
Treads come with a rounded bullnose edge in your choice of oak, maple or hickory, and we blend the stain so the stairs look at home between the floors above and below.

Short tread samples come with the estimator. Hold a couple against the hallway floor where the stairs begin, and picking the right one tends to take seconds.
Squeaky steps are first fastened down with screws into the framing. Then we cut every new tread for the opening it fills and lock it down with glue and nails.
Licensed, insured, NWFA trained Brazil Floors employees build every staircase. If a step we put in starts creaking during its first year, we come fix it.

Every new tread we supply and install costs $60. Refinishing the ones you already have is $50 per step. Count the steps and multiply for a quick estimate.
Lift the carpet on the top step and look. Solid hardwood without deep splits is usually a good refinishing candidate. Plywood or chipped composite treads should be replaced.
Yes, carefully. When refinishing, we may sand and finish alternating steps, letting everyone climb over the wet ones until the rest are done.
Yes. Stain gets mixed on spare offcuts held up to the landing and tweaked until the color lines up, then that same mix goes on every tread.
Slightly, so we measure carefully and shim or trim the first and last steps where needed. Rises that stay equal keep the staircase safe and easy to climb.
A hard wearing finish built for heavy foot traffic. Satin is a favorite on stairs since it hides scuffs and isn't as slick as high gloss.
With new treads, our crew collects labor the morning we begin. Refinishing: we collect fifty percent once sanding begins, and the remainder after the top step is sealed and dry.
Yes. Until a year has passed since we wrapped up, if one of our treads starts squeaking or shifts, phone the office and we'll get it tightened up for free.
