Treads, Risers and Nosing

Tread choices are red oak, white oak, hickory and maple, each 1 inch thick and 11 1/2 inches deep, with a bull nose and a riser to match.

Tread Samples at Home

Our estimator brings tread samples, and you hold them against the floor at the foot of the stairs to choose the wood by eye.

Quiet, Solid Steps

First we screw down anything loose. Each new tread is then scribed to the wall, glued and fastened so the climb stays silent.

One Year Stair Warranty

Each staircase is built by licensed, insured, NWFA certified employees, with a one-year labor warranty. If anything shifts or squeaks, we come back.

/ OUR SERVICES

Stair Installers in Bethlehem

We rebuild stairs in Bethlehem farmhouses, capes along East Street, colonials near the green and ranches off Route 132. Carpet is pulled, loose steps are anchored, and new hardwood treads and risers go in, often within a day or two. Staining happens indoors.

Wood Stair Treads and Risers

A narrow farmhouse stair and a wide colonial staircase want different things, so we help you pick the wood, risers and trim.

Red Oak Treads

Red oak with a warm stain suits the older floors in Bethlehem capes.

White Oak Treads

White oak shows a pale, clean grain in a bright entry.

Hickory and Maple Treads

Hickory hides wear from boots and dogs, while maple lightens a dark stairwell.

Painted or Wood Risers

Owners of older colonials choose white painted risers or oak ones in the same stain.

Open Stairs and Return Ends

On an open stair, return ends turn each tread around its exposed side.

Landing Treads

The top landing tread is set flush with the second floor so the last step is level.

How much does one new hardwood step cost in Bethlehem?

Each step is $60, with tread, riser, nosing, stain and labor all included.

Can you remove carpet from my stairs?

Yes. Carpet, pad, tack strips and staples all come out, and you get the removal price at the visit.

Which wood should I pick for the treads?

Red oak is the classic, white oak is paler, hickory is the toughest and maple is the lightest. Samples come to the house so you can compare.

Can you refinish stairs instead of replacing them?

If the treads are sound, refinishing is $50 per step, hand stained. Risers are quoted on site.

Do you do laminate stairs?

We do, at $50 per step for labor with matching nosing.

How long does a staircase take?

A typical flight is finished in one to two days. The estimator gives you a firm schedule at the visit.

Are you insured for stair work?

Our crews are on Brazil Floors payroll, licensed, insured and NWFA certified. Labor carries a one-year warranty.

How and when do I pay?

The crew is paid on arrival and the treads at delivery. Booking the estimate online takes $250 off.
