Treads, Risers and Nosing
Pick from red or white oak, hickory and maple, every tread with a rounded bullnose. We match grain and tone so the lowest step blends into the floor at its foot.

Our estimator carries real sample treads in several woods. Lay one on your lowest stair next to the hallway flooring, and picking a species and color gets simple.
Agawam split level stairs see heavy use, so loose stringers get tightened before anything else. We scribe every tread to its wall, then cut, glue and fasten it.
Our NWFA certified carpenters are employees, licensed and insured. If a step loosens or creaks within twelve months, one of them returns to make it right.

Hardwood treads we install run $60 per step. Raised ranch stairs often have just six to eight steps per flight, and you'll get a complete total at the free visit.
Often, yes, if it's solid wood. Refinishing costs $50 a step, hand sanded around each nosing and stained so it matches your floors.
Yes. Most staircases are done within one or two days. If we're staining, the schedule keeps one path dry by evening, sometimes finishing every other step first so nobody sleeps on the couch.
Rarely. Any loose step gets screwed down tight first, then every tread is set in construction adhesive and fastened, which keeps creaks away for years.
Yes. We pick wood and grain close to your hall floor, then try stain samples on offcuts until stairs and hallway read as one continuous floor.
Our work covers treads, risers, nosings and landings, and we work carefully around your existing railings. If a newel post needs replacing, we'll say so honestly.
With new treads, labor gets paid when our carpenters arrive that first morning. With refinishing your existing steps, half comes as sanding starts and the second half on the final day.
Stair carpentry from our crew is covered for one year. Should a step shift, wobble or creak during those twelve months, a carpenter comes back and repairs it for free.
