Treads, Risers and Nosing
Treads come in several hardwoods, oak in red or white, hickory, maple and more, each with a rounded bullnose, and we match the grain to whatever floor greets the stairs.

Samples arrive with us at the estimate, and resting a tread right where the bottom step meets your hall makes picking wood and color easy.
Creaks come out first: we fasten wobbly steps tight into the stringers. Next every tread gets scribed so it hugs the wall, then glue and nails hold it for keeps.
Our NWFA certified carpenters, licensed and insured, build each staircase, and a one year labor promise covers the work. If a step loosens, we're back.

Count on $60 per step whenever a fresh hardwood tread goes in. Most staircases have twelve to fifteen steps, and we give you an exact total at the free estimate after seeing the stringers and walls.
Yes, if they're solid and in decent shape under the carpet. Refinishing is $50 per step, hand sanded and stained to suit the nearby floors.
Most installs take a day or two. With stain and finish involved, we schedule things so everybody can still reach their bedrooms each night, sometimes keeping one side open.
Samples and stain cans come to the house, and we try them right next to your hallway floor. Older oak floors usually pair best with red oak, while lighter floors suit white oak.
Yes. Wobbly steps get driven tight with screws and glue into the stringers before new treads go on, which keeps them quiet for many years.
Satin sheen grips better than high gloss, and runners or clear grip strips are options too. Lots of dog owners find a quick sweep beats vacuuming carpeted steps.
Labor is due when the carpenters show up, and the treads themselves get paid for on delivery. Sanding old treads instead? Then half comes up front and half once they're done.
Each staircase we build has a twelve month labor guarantee, and the wood carries its manufacturer warranty. Should a tread ever shift or creak, call us and those same carpenters return.
