Walkthrough Before We Start

A good share of the housing between Alewife Brook and Arlington Heights predates 1930, so our lead installer goes to the basement, sights along the joists, maps every hump in the subfloor and decides which way the rows run before a single carton is opened.

Licensed, Insured Installation

The people kneeling on your Arlington subfloor draw a Brazil Floors paycheck, hold NWFA certification and are licensed and insured. We have never sent a subcontractor into a customer's home.

Remeasure and Material Count

Install morning in Arlington starts with the tape measure out a second time, cartons stacked inside the front door and transitions cut for each threshold, so the nailer never idles while someone hunts for a reducer.

One Year Install Warranty

Our twelve month labor guarantee sits on top of the mill's warranty on the oak itself. If a row lifts or a squeak starts in year one, the same Arlington crew returns and fixes it for nothing.

/ FLOOR PATTERN DESIGNS

Hardwood Floor Patterns

Arlington buyers can have rows laid straight, on the diagonal, in herringbone or chevron, as parquet squares or as a basket weave. Any border or inlay is priced after we stand in the room with you.

Straight Lay Hardwood

Boards that follow the longest wall of an East Arlington living room create the least offcut and pull the eye toward the bay window.

Herringbone Hardwood

In herringbone, short lengths meet at right angles and march across the room in a zigzag. It is the natural choice for a dining room in a Menotomy era colonial.

Chevron Hardwood

Chevron has every board end mitered, so the rows close in a sharp point. Renovated open kitchens in Arlington Heights order it more than any other pattern.

Diagonal Hardwood

A diagonal run at 45 degrees carries the eye corner to corner, and a tight galley kitchen in a Spy Pond condo reads wider than it measures.

Checkerboard Parquet

Parquet turns the grain block by block in a grid, a formal look for the study of an older home near the Cyrus Dallin Art Museum.

Basket Weave Parquet

Basket weave crosses short oak pieces over and under inside a darker border, a fitting entry hall for an Arlington Victorian.

/ OUR SERVICES

Hardwood Floor Installers in Arlington

Arlington is twenty minutes from our Natick shop at 9 Cochituate St, and the installers who unload the truck are the ones who set the last transition. In this house a block from the Jason Russell House they tore out carpet, found rough pine beneath it, rolled fresh underlayment, cleated oak strip across the whole first floor and left a gap under every baseboard for the wood to move in summer.

Flooring Services in Arlington

Arlington owners who start with oak often have us come back for vinyl plank in a damp basement, laminate on the third floor, a full sanding of the old parlor, a color change, a split board or a flight of oak treads.

Hardwood Floor Installation FAQ

How much do Arlington homeowners pay to have hardwood installed?

Nailing it down is $2.25/Sq Ft in Arlington, and the cleats and underlayment are already inside that labor figure. Let us bring the wood too and unfinished oak lands at $5.50/Sq Ft installed, prefinished at $6.00/Sq Ft.

There is carpet over the original floors in our two family. What now?

We pull it. Tear-out is around $1.00/Sq Ft and the old carpet leaves on our truck. If the oak underneath is sound, we say so, because sanding it may cost you less than new wood.

Can you install hardwood in a condo by Alewife?

Yes. Insurance certificates go to the association, the common stairwell gets covered and the chop saw stays on the deck. Sound dampening underlayment is available when the condo rules demand it.

Is oak an option in our basement near Spy Pond?

Solid oak is not. Engineered planks are, floated on underlayment with glue in the seams for $2.00/Sq Ft, and the concrete is never drilled. We meter the slab for moisture before anything is ordered.

How long until the wood reaches Arlington?

One day. It leaves our Natick warehouse at 9 Cochituate St in the morning and is inside your Arlington home before lunch, then solid oak sits a few days to settle before the cleats go in.

Who handles the furniture?

You can, or our crew does it for a flat $250, out before the install and back after the finish is dry. Pianos and full bookcases get discussed at the Arlington estimate.

When does the money change hands?

The wood is paid for when the boxes land at your door, and labor is paid the morning the Arlington crew arrives to begin. Nothing is owed to reserve a date.

What if a board lifts once the heat comes on?

Ring 508-306-4190 and the Arlington installers who laid the floor come back out. Twelve months of labor coverage is ours, and the plank maker's warranty sits on top of it.

Hardwood Floors in Nearby Towns

Belmont, Medford, Winchester, Watertown and Somerville share a border with Arlington, and the oak our crew nails in those five towns is billed from the same Arlington price sheet.
Belmont colonials have solid oak cleated over plywood for $2.25/Sq Ft, and Belmont owners pay nothing extra for the nails or the underlayment.
Medford basements along the Mystic River get engineered planks on foam at $2.00/Sq Ft, and the Medford slab stays undrilled.
Winchester families like prefinished oak because the floor arrives sealed, and with material the Winchester price is $6.00/Sq Ft installed.
Watertown two families choose unfinished hardwood at $5.50/Sq Ft with material, then the Watertown crew sands and coats it in place.
Somerville owners who want wide boards have them cleated and glued for $2.50/Sq Ft plus the adhesive, so Somerville planks stay flat through August.
