Samples on Your Own Wood

Test patches come first. Three or four shades go down next to each other on the sanded oak, so you see each one by daylight and by evening lamp before choosing.

Fine Grit Sanding First

Between finish layers we screen the floor lightly. Dust is vacuumed and tacked off, so the last pass of polyurethane dries smooth and clear over the color.

No Blotches or Lap Marks

Our finishers work the color in with lint free rags and lift the excess away as they move along each row. That keeps tones even across long runs and stops lap marks where sections meet.

One Year Staining Warranty

Labor on every stained floor is guaranteed by our crew for a year, and the finish maker adds its own written warranty. NWFA trained, licensed and insured.

Stain Crew Serving Wales Homes

The light by Lake George is bright and cool, while a north room on Main Street stays dim all afternoon, and a shade that glows by the water may look heavy on Main Street. We test where you live, wipe the color on evenly and seal it with care.

Hardwood Floor Staining Services

Popular picks this year: natural, golden honey, warm brown, smoky gray, rich espresso and custom blends mixed for one house.

Natural Look, No Stain

Natural tone keeps oak light and simple, a good match for a sunny cottage facing the water.

Gray and Driftwood Tones

Smoky gray looks calm and current in newer homes near the Norcross sanctuary woods.

Dark Walnut and Espresso

Espresso brings a dark, polished look to a dining room, paired with white trim and plenty of lamps.

Custom Color Mixing

A custom blend lets you fine tune a color between two stock shades until it suits your furniture.

Red Oak Toning

Red oak has pink tones, so a toner step before the stain keeps gray or beige from turning rosy.

Color Change on Old Floors

Older floors in Main Street brick houses often take stain unevenly, so we condition first.

How is staining labor priced in Wales?

Staining labor is $2.00/Sq Ft. Sanding is a separate line at $2.50/Sq Ft, and we can move heavy furniture for $250 when the rooms still need clearing.

Does a gray tone suit red oak?

Yes, though red oak carries natural pink tones. A toner step goes on first, then gray is tried on a spare section, so the real color is clear before the full room.

Why test samples on my own floor?

Every floor drinks stain differently, and lighting in a lake cottage is not like a shaded village room. Patches on your oak show the real color, not a printed guess.

Can you stain softwood or very old floors?

Yes, with care. Softwood and old wood can blotch, so we apply a conditioner first and test the color before staining the whole room.

When is the stained room usable again?

Light foot traffic is fine after about a day once the last clear layer dries. Wait a few days before rugs go down, and about a week before heavy furniture returns.

Do you stain stair treads to match?

Yes. We hand stain each tread to the same tone as the upstairs hall, paint risers white if you like, and add extra clear layers because steps see the most traffic.

What is the payment schedule?

Sanding and staining are billed in two parts: 50% when work begins, then 50% at the end, after you see how the color looks by your own windows.

Is my stained floor under warranty?

Yes. For twelve months our crew backs the stain labor, and the polyurethane brand adds its own warranty. Any trouble traced to our work gets fixed at no cost.
