Samples on Your Own Wood

Test squares go right on your sanded oak. Study them with the curtains open at noon, under lamps after dinner and beside your sofa, and take as long as you need.

Fine Grit Sanding First

Dark stain shows every little swirl a sander leaves. Before any can is opened, we screen the whole floor with fine grit so the surface is smooth.

No Blotches or Lap Marks

Pads push the stain into the open grain, and clean rags lift the excess right behind them. Small sections keep the color steady from wall to wall.

One Year Staining Warranty

Brazil Floors employees do all the staining. Each one is NWFA trained and holds a license and insurance. Their workmanship is warrantied for twelve months.

Stain Colors for Wakefield Homes

Morning light off the lake in Lakeside, shade from tall trees in Montrose and bright kitchens in newer Greenwood homes all change how a stain looks. Because we test in your rooms at the hours you use them, the shade you approve still looks right once the furniture comes back.

/ STAIN COLORS WE APPLY MOST

Hardwood Floor Staining Services

Clear natural, soft gray, warm honey, rich walnut or near black espresso. Each one can be applied evenly by our crew and sealed to last.

Natural Look, No Stain

An older home near Wakefield Common keeps its oak natural under clear finish, so the grain shows.

Gray and Driftwood Tones

Soft gray looks fresh beside white cabinets in a sunny kitchen near Crystal Lake.

Dark Walnut and Espresso

Espresso goes down evenly in a den off Prospect Street, without the blotching dark stain can bring.

Custom Color Mixing

For a Woodville family room, two stains were mixed into a warm brown no store sells by itself.

Red Oak Toning

Red oak can look pink when the sun is low, so a toner layer pulls it back to a calm brown.

Color Change on Old Floors

Older floors a few blocks from the town library get sanded to clean wood before new color goes on.

What does floor staining cost?

Sanding and refinishing are $2.50/Sq Ft, and color is another $2.00/Sq Ft. You get a written total after we measure during the free visit.

Will a gray stain suit red oak?

It can, but red oak has pink undertones that sometimes show through gray. We test on your floor first and use a toner if the result looks too warm.

How should I choose a stain color?

Judge the test patches at two times of day, once with sunshine and once after dark. Set a cushion or a rug corner next to them, because fabric changes how wood tones read.

Where does that pink look in red oak come from?

The species naturally holds a reddish tone, and pale or gray stains let it peek through. Adding a toner, or moving one shade warmer, usually settles it down.

Can you match stain in another room?

Usually. We brush and adjust sample mixes until the new room sits right next to the old one. Oak that has ambered over decades often needs a blend made just for it.

How long before the family can use the room?

Walk on it barefoot the day after the final layer. Tables and beds can come back after two or three days, but give the finish two weeks before putting rugs down.

Is staining paid in installments?

Yes, in two parts. Since stain goes on during the sanding job, half is collected as sanding begins and the balance at the very end, after you have looked everything over.

What warranty comes with staining work?

If our staining work fails within twelve months of the last day, we return to fix it. The stain and polyurethane makers also offer their own product warranties.
