Samples on Your Own Wood

Testing happens right on your floor, near a window and again in a dim corner, so you know how walnut or gray behaves by daylight and by lamplight.

Fine Grit Sanding First

Any swirl left from sanding jumps out once color hits it, so the final pass uses a very fine grit and two rounds of vacuuming before a single drop goes on.

No Blotches or Lap Marks

Our finisher works the color down into the wood using a pad, then wipes off what sits on top, row by row, so no lap marks or dark puddles dry into the wood.

One Year Staining Warranty

Nobody from outside touches the color. It is our NWFA trained finishers, licensed and insured, and if their handiwork falters inside a year, they fix it without charge.

Wood Floor Staining Team in Princeton

Lots of the oak we color here sits in farmhouses along Gregory Hill Road and colonials near Princeton Center, where tall windows throw strong light across the floor. We sand to bare wood, try the samples, rub the chosen color in by hand, then lock it under clear polyurethane so it holds up to mud season.

What does hardwood floor staining cost?

Color is $2.00/Sq Ft, charged on top of the sand and refinish, which runs $2.50/Sq Ft. If the rooms need emptying first, our crew handles the furniture for a flat $250, out and back in.

Can I see the color before you do the whole room?

Always. A small patch gets sanded and a few shades go on side by side, so you see them dry on your own wood by window light and under lamps before choosing.

Will stain hide the orange look of old oak?

Usually, yes. Medium browns and toned blends calm that orange or pink cast red oak picks up over the years, and we prove it on a sanded test spot first.

Does a gray stain work on red oak?

It can, but red oak pulls warm, so gray often reads more like taupe. We show you a sample on your own wood, and white oak takes gray more evenly if you are choosing new planks.

How do you keep dark stain from blotching?

Very fine sanding, careful vacuuming and wiping each section by hand. Dark colors show every flaw, so the prep matters more than the stain itself.

Can you match a new floor to an existing one?

Yes. Stains get mixed on scrap pieces until the new wood sits next to the old without a visible line, then we color both areas at the same time if needed.

When is a freshly stained floor ready for feet?

Color has to dry fully before any clear layer is applied, and we map out the days at your estimate so you know when bare feet and furniture can return.

Is the staining work guaranteed?

Absolutely. Labor protection lasting a year rides with every stained floor. Should the color or the finish give you trouble during those months, our crew returns and sets it right for free.
