Samples on Your Own Wood

Before any color, the floor is sanded clean down to fresh wood. That's how stain soaks in evenly, without dark blotches or patches left over from the old finish.

Fine Grit Sanding First

Once the color is chosen, satin, semi gloss or matte finish layers go on top. Satin hides footprints well, while matte reads soft and modern in open rooms.

No Blotches or Lap Marks

Test swatches go onto your sanded oak in a handful of shades. Check them by daylight and again under lamps at night, because color changes a lot between the two.

One Year Staining Warranty

Our NWFA certified crew, licensed and insured, guarantees stain and finish labor for a full year. Half gets paid when sanding starts, the balance when we're done.

Hardwood Floor Staining Services

These shades are the ones local homeowners pick most often. We brush any of them, or a custom blend, onto your sanded floor before you commit.

Natural Look, No Stain

Natural keeps oak's own color under a clear finish, a bright and simple look for sunny rooms near Falls Pond.

Gray and Driftwood Tones

Golden oak glows warm without going orange, a classic choice for older homes off Elm Street.

Dark Walnut and Espresso

Honey brown sits between light and dark and hides everyday dust well in busy Adamsdale kitchens.

Custom Color Mixing

Soft gray tones cool down the red in older oak, a popular modern look near Greenwood Lake.

Red Oak Toning

Dark walnut gives a rich, deep brown that pairs with white trim in Attleboro Falls colonials.

Color Change on Old Floors

Ebony is nearly black and very dramatic, though it shows dust and scratches faster in homes off Route 1.

Does a stain color raise the refinishing price?

No. Refinishing is $2.50/Sq Ft, a figure that already pays for the sanding, whichever color you settle on and the layers of finish, so darker shades cost the same.

Can I go from dark to light stain?

Usually, yes. Sanding strips off the old color, exposing clean wood, and then we apply the new lighter shade. Very dark stain that soaked deep may need extra sanding.

How do I pick the right stain color?

We brush several sample swatches onto your sanded floor. Study them by daylight and at night, next to your trim and furniture, then choose the one you like.

Does stain look different on red oak and white oak?

Yes. Red oak has a pinkish tone that warms up most colors, while white oak takes stain cooler and works well with grays and naturals.

After staining, when can the family use the room?

Stain needs to dry before finish goes on, and the finish needs time to cure. Light barefoot walking usually comes before furniture, and we give exact timing at the estimate.

Will dark stain show dust and scratches?

Darker shades like ebony and dark walnut show dust and light scratches faster than mid tones. If you have pets or kids, honey or golden oak can be more forgiving.

When do I pay for staining?

Since stain is bundled into refinishing, the bill comes in two pieces: fifty percent at the start of sanding, fifty percent once your floor has its last layer of finish.

Is there a warranty on stain work?

Yes. Our NWFA certified crew guarantees its workmanship a full year, and the stains and finishes we use come with their own manufacturer warranty.
