Color alone is $2.00/Sq Ft. If we are already sanding and refinishing your floors at $2.50/Sq Ft, the stain comes as part of that job at no added cost.
How do we decide on a stain color?
Our tech brushes four or five real stains onto a sanded corner. Leave them there for a day, check them when the kids get home from school and again after supper, then choose.
Does red oak take stain differently than white oak?
It does. Red oak has open grain with a pink undertone, while white oak reads cooler and steadier. A sample patch on your own floor settles the question fast.
Can a dark stained floor be made lighter?
Yes, after it is sanded down to bare wood. Very dark stain sometimes needs an extra pass before all the old color comes out.
Our neighbor's stained floor looks blotchy. How do you avoid that?
Most often the sanding was uneven, or stain sat too long before someone wiped it. We use fine grit, vacuum carefully and wipe quickly so color stays uniform.
After staining, how soon can the kids walk through?
Stain must dry fully before the clear layer is applied, and that finish then needs its own curing time. Your project manager sets the schedule for your rooms.
How is a staining project billed?
Same as refinishing. Pay 50% when sanding begins on day one. The balance is due after the final clear layer, once you have walked the rooms and are happy.
What if we are unhappy with the color later?
Call us. Staining labor has a one year guarantee, and it is carried out by licensed, insured people on our staff, so we will come back to sort out any problem with the finish.
