Treads, Risers and Nosing

The treads come in red oak, white oak, hickory or maple, each 1 inch thick and 11 1/2 inches deep, with a bull nose and a riser.

Tread Samples at Home

Our estimator unpacks sample treads in your hallway. Lay them beside the floor you have and the best match shows quickly.

Quiet, Solid Steps

Before anything new goes on, wobbly steps are secured. Then the stringer is checked and every tread is glued and fastened to it for a quiet flight.

One Year Stair Warranty

A year of labor warranty comes from Brazil Floors, and our installers are licensed, insured and NWFA certified. A step that moves gets refit.

Wood Stair Treads and Risers

A narrow basement stair and a wide front staircase need different woods and trim, and we help you choose for each.

Red Oak Treads

Stained red oak adds warmth beside older floorboards in a long entry hall.

White Oak Treads

White oak shows a clean pale grain in a house flooded with morning light.

Hickory and Maple Treads

Hickory stands up to cleats and school bags, and maple brightens a dim stairwell.

Painted or Wood Risers

Many homeowners paint the risers white, and others stain oak risers to match the treads.

Open Stairs and Return Ends

An open side needs returned tread ends, which carry the nosing around the edge of every step.

Landing Treads

The top tread is set flush with the upstairs hall so nothing catches a foot at the landing.

Most calls are about a loose step or a worn carpeted flight, and the crew also refinishes oak, repairs boards and lays hardwood, vinyl plank or laminate.

How much is each new hardwood step in Redding?

A step is $60, including the tread, riser, bull nose, matching stain and installation.

Is the old stair carpet removed?

It is. The pad, tack strips and staples go too, and we quote that work during the visit.

Which wood is best for stair treads?

Your choices are red oak, white oak, hickory and maple, and hickory takes the hardest wear. A sample held beside your floor decides the color.

How long does a staircase job take?

A straight flight takes one or two days. Winders and open sides take longer.

Can I refinish my existing stairs instead?

Yes, for $50 per step, brushed by hand, with risers quoted separately.

What about laminate on the stairs?

Laminate treads cost $50 per step in labor, with the nosing matched to the planks.

Will the new treads match my floor?

The stain is matched to your existing floor, and you approve samples before any color goes on.

What does the warranty cover?

Labor is warranted for one year by Brazil Floors, and the wood carries the manufacturer's coverage. You pay labor the day the crew starts.
