Treads, Risers and Nosing
Carpet on old Whitinsville mill house stairs might be covering good oak, or pine too soft to keep. We tug back one corner during the free visit so you know which.

Espresso on white risers, clear oak from bottom to top, or light treads climbing out of a marble foyer: our crew stains a scrap piece so you can approve the color in person.
We measure each step by itself, since a hundred-plus years of settling has pulled many High Street stairways out of square. Then every tread is scribed for a snug fit.
Should a Northbridge tread of ours work loose within a year, our labor warranty fixes it. The wood has its maker's warranty, and NWFA certified staff do it all.

Northbridge stair treads in new oak are $60 each, set in place and stained in whichever shade you want. Keeping the treads you have is an option too, and a refinish is $50 a step with sanding and finish included.
Yes. Once the carpet, padding and staples are gone, we check the wood underneath. Some oak only needs refinishing; other times new treads are the better call.
Lots of Northbridge homeowners paint risers white so the treads stand out, and others stain them to match. We bring examples of each to your estimate.
Not at all. The job takes a day or two while stain and finish set, and we can do alternating steps so everyone still gets to bed upstairs.
Yes. We test stains on scrap oak until one blends with the hall upstairs and the entry downstairs, and we begin only after you approve it.
Our own employees, every one NWFA certified, and the company holds a license and full insurance. Northbridge staircases are never handed off to subcontractors.
Yes. If a tread we install loosens in the first year, we'll return and secure it, because our labor is under warranty. The tread manufacturer separately covers the wood.
Treads are paid for when they arrive, and labor once our crew begins on your stairs. No big deposit weeks ahead, and the quoted per-step price stays fixed.
