Sample treads live in the estimator's truck. Set one against the floor at the bottom step and the right species usually picks itself.
Loose steps are screwed to the stringers before new wood arrives. Then each tread is traced to its opening, set in glue and fastened.
Every Harwinton staircase is built by a licensed, insured, NWFA certified crew and backed by a one year labor warranty. If a step moves, we come back.

Sixty dollars, including the tread, the riser, the bull nose, stain matched to your floor and the labor to set it.
It does, along with the pad, tack strips and every staple. The removal is quoted during the free visit.
Each tread is scribed to fit its own opening, so uneven stringers are routine for us. The original rise and run are kept.
Most Harwinton flights are done in a day. Light traffic the next morning, full use after the finish has cured a day or two.
Hickory is the toughest of the four we stock. Red and white oak are close behind and match most Harwinton floors.
Sound treads get sanded and refinished at $50 per step with hand brushed stain. Split or cupped treads are replaced at $60.
The payroll crew that lays our floors, every member licensed, insured and NWFA certified. No Harwinton staircase goes to a sub.
Treads and risers are paid at delivery, labor when the crew arrives. The labor is warrantied for twelve months.
