Treads, Risers and Nosing
Red oak, white oak, hickory and maple are the four tread woods we offer. Every tread we set is a full 1 inch thick and 11 1/2 inches deep, nosed on the front and paired with a riser.

Our estimator keeps a set of tread samples behind the seat of the truck. Lay them on your floor where the stairs land and the match jumps out.
Before a single tread goes in, any step that rocks gets screwed to the stringers. Each new tread is then traced to the wall, glued and nailed home.
Every staircase is built by a licensed, insured, NWFA certified crew, and we stand behind the labor for a year. If something shifts, we return.

A new step costs $60. That price includes the hardwood tread, the riser, the nosing, stain matched to your floor and the installation.
We can. The carpet, pad, tack strips and staples all come off, and the removal cost is set during the visit.
When the oak is solid, yes, at $50 per step for hand sanding and refinishing. Treads that are split or worn thin get replaced instead.
Certainly. Stained oak risers give the flight a solid wood look, and painted white risers give a sharper contrast.
Nearly always. We screw the loose steps to the stringers first, then glue and fasten each tread so nothing moves underfoot.
Each exposed tread end gets a return, a piece of nosing that wraps the side so the step looks finished from the room.
Unfinished treads let us start the next day and finish within two. Prefinished treads are special ordered and add a few weeks.
There is. We cover the stair labor for one year, and the crew doing it is licensed, insured and NWFA certified.
