Old oak and new oak, sanded as one
First came the cutouts and the weave in, room by room, with the nailer on fresh paper underlayment. Then we sanded the old and new wood together, set the nails and vacuumed before the finish went on.
New wood next to old wood never matches on its own. If you fill a hole with straight pieces, the seams line up and your eye goes right to them. The repair had to blend into floors that had been walked on for years.
We cut out every damaged strip at staggered lengths and wove new oak into the gaps, so the joints fall at random like the original. Each piece was glued, nailed and set flush before any sanding started.
Walk in from the hall and your eye runs from the brick hearth to the bottom step with nothing to stop it. The patched areas sit level with the rest and take the light the same way.

- Solid oak strips cut to the width of the existing floor
- A maple patch at one doorway
- Old and new wood sanded together in one pass
- Clear finish in every room
