Walkthrough Before We Start

Farmhouse sills that have settled for two centuries and fresh subdivisions on former tobacco fields both throw a floor out of level, so our lead reads every room, threshold and stair in your Ellington home before the saw starts.

Licensed, Insured Installation

Nobody on your Ellington job is a subcontractor. Each installer is a Brazil Floors employee, licensed, insured and NWFA certified, which keeps your house and our people protected to the end.

Remeasure and Material Count

Morning one, the crew runs a tape through every room and stacks the cartons, moldings and reducers by the door, so nobody stops to hunt for a piece mid row.

One Year Install Warranty

Brazil Floors stands behind the labor for one year while the plank manufacturer covers the wood, so the install and the material are both protected.

/ FLOOR PATTERN DESIGNS

Hardwood Floor Patterns

Straight lay, herringbone, chevron, diagonal and parquet are all available in Ellington, with borders and inlays priced at the estimate. The antique homes near Ellington Center call for herringbone, while new builds at Crystal Ridge lean chevron.

What is the price of hardwood floor installation in Ellington?

Our nail down rate is a flat $2.25/Sq Ft and it already includes nails and underlayment. If we also supply the oak, figure $5.50/Sq Ft unfinished or $6.00/Sq Ft prefinished all in.

Can you replace the carpet in my Crystal Ridge colonial with oak?

Yes, the carpet, pad and tack strips come out at about $1.00/Sq Ft and the plywood underneath is screwed tight before the oak goes down. Most colonials there are done in two to three days.

Which floor works on the slab in a walkout basement?

Floating engineered hardwood on foam at $2.00/Sq Ft is the usual answer, after we meter the slab. A damp reading sends us to vinyl plank instead.

Besides hardwood, do you put in vinyl plank or laminate?

Yes, vinyl plank labor is $2.00/Sq Ft and laminate is $1.99/Sq Ft, both with underlayment included. Plenty of Ellington homes run oak upstairs and vinyl in the mudroom.

How long before the wood shows up?

It ships from our Milford warehouse the day after you order and acclimates in the house for a few days before nailing. The material bill is paid at delivery.

How much are new oak treads for the stairs?

New hardwood treads are $60 per step, and that covers the tread, riser, nosing, stain and labor. We stain them to match the new floor in the hall.

How is the job paid for?

Labor is paid the morning the crew arrives and material the day it is delivered. Furniture moving is a flat $250 if you would like us to do it.

What does the warranty cover?

Our labor is covered for one year, and the manufacturer covers the planks. Any board that lifts or gaps because of our install is fixed free.
