Walkthrough Before We Start
Old farmhouses settle, and a two hundred year old frame rarely leaves a floor level, so our lead walks every room, threshold and stair in your Cornwall home before a board is cut.

Everyone we send to Cornwall is licensed, insured and NWFA certified, and every one of them is on the Brazil Floors payroll rather than a subcontractor.
On day one the crew measures each room, stacks cartons, trim and reducers by the entry and plans the run direction so the work moves without pauses.
You get one year of labor warranty from us and the manufacturer warranty on the boards, so both the work and the wood are covered after we leave.

Boards follow the longest wall, the quickest layout with the least waste, and it stretches a narrow farmhouse parlor in Cornwall Hollow.

Boards of equal length meet at ninety degrees in a stepped zigzag, each one cut and set by hand. Right at home in the dining room of a West Cornwall colonial.

Boards cut at 45 degrees meet in a sharp V down the center. A clean look for an open kitchen in a renovated barn near Route 4.

Planks set diagonal to the walls pull the eye toward the corners, which opens up a small lakeside kitchen by Cream Hill Lake.

Oak squares with the grain turned block by block, parquet style. A traditional choice for a study in an older Route 7 home.

Oak slats interlaced in a basket weave, usually framed by a contrasting band. Fits the formal front rooms of the old houses in West Cornwall.

Nail down labor is a flat $2.25/Sq Ft with nails and underlayment inside that number. With oak from our warehouse the package is $5.50/Sq Ft unfinished or $6.00/Sq Ft prefinished.
Yes, and most Cornwall farmhouses are. We screw down loose subfloor, add plywood or shims where the frame has settled, and only then start nailing oak.
Engineered oak floated over padding with glue in each joint, so nothing is driven into the concrete. Labor for that method is $2.00/Sq Ft.
We do. Vinyl plank labor is $2.00/Sq Ft and laminate is $1.99/Sq Ft, and waterproof vinyl is the safer choice for a damp ground floor near the Housatonic.
The next day. Trucks leave our Milford warehouse daily and come up Route 7, and the oak sits in the house a few days to acclimate before we nail it.
Each new tread costs $60, and that covers the riser, nosing, stain and the labor to set it. Sound old treads can be sanded and refinished instead for $50 per step.
The labor is settled on the morning the crew pulls up, and the wood is paid for as the boxes come off the truck. Nothing is owed just to hold a date.
Yes. Our labor carries a one year warranty and the boards keep their manufacturer warranty, with a licensed, insured, NWFA certified crew doing the work.
