Samples on Your Own Wood

A row of trial colors goes on a freshly sanded corner by the window, and you can study them next to your kitchen paint and upholstery at different hours.

Fine Grit Sanding First

Leftover sander marks look worse under color, so the oak gets a fine screening first, and our crew vacuums vents, sills and corners before any stain opens.

No Blotches or Lap Marks

One finisher spreads stain using a lambswool applicator while a second follows with clean rags, so overlapping sections dry with no dark lines.

One Year Staining Warranty

Your finisher earned NWFA certification and works only for us. Licensed, insured and confident in our crew, we redo free any stain work that fails inside one year.

/ LOCAL STAINING CREW

Hardwood Staining in Southampton

Near Conant Park, a family had grown tired of yellowed oak and asked for a soft, coffee colored brown. Our crew took the floor to bare wood, set out four trial shades by the dining room window and waited for the evening lamps. They picked the second one, and we wiped it on by hand and topped it with satin.

Hardwood Floor Staining Services

Honey natural, driftwood gray, rich walnut or deep espresso: it is your choice, and a trial square of that shade dries on your oak before we commit to a room.

Natural Look, No Stain

Plenty of homeowners near Southampton Center pass on color, preferring plain oak glowing under a clear seal.

Gray and Driftwood Tones

In bright rooms along College Highway, weathered gray stain looks fresh next to white window casings.

Dark Walnut and Espresso

Family rooms near Pequot Pond feel cozy in a walnut or espresso tone that goes on smooth, never blotchy.

Custom Color Mixing

A custom blend for a dining room on Glendale Road produces a shade made for that home alone.

Red Oak Toning

In rooms that look out at Pomeroy Mountain, a toner tames the rosy cast red oak can show.

Color Change on Old Floors

Old floors near Lyman Mill Pond that were stained very dark can be sanded back and brought several shades lighter.

Other Work From Our Southampton Team

Most people change color during a full refinish, but our team can also install oak, lay LVP or laminate, build hardwood stairs and repair split strips before the stain goes down.

What is the stain price per square foot in Southampton?

Color costs $2.00/Sq Ft. Separately, sanding plus three layers of finish come to $2.50/Sq Ft. Both appear separately on your written estimate, so you can color one room and keep another natural.

Will samples be tried on my own floor first?

Yes. Right after sanding, our finisher brushes several samples onto one spot. Check them with daylight coming in and again after dark under your own lamps before picking.

Is gray a good idea on red oak?

It can be, though red oak keeps some warmth underneath. A toner before the gray helps cool the color, and a sample on your floor shows the true result.

Is espresso a lot of upkeep?

Somewhat. Very dark floors reveal lint, fur and light scuffs quickly. Homes with a shedding retriever often settle on walnut as a happy middle ground.

Can new stain match an existing room?

Usually. We mix stain on spare pieces of oak and hold them next to the older floor, adjusting until the two agree, then use that recipe across the new area.

Our floor is very dark. Can it go lighter?

Usually. Our sanders remove old color as they cut through the finish, though an especially heavy stain may leave a hint of tint deep in the pores.

How long does stain need before finish?

It must be bone dry first. On sticky August days that can stretch into the afternoon or longer, so our schedule leaves room for it from the beginning.

Will my staircase get the same color?

Yes. Our finisher hand sands the treads and landings, uses the very stain mix from your floor and protects them with a tough clear finish made for stairs.
